The Nutshell Toolbar is a Windows Internet Explorer (5.5 and above) toolbar that makes it easier to access the search engines of Google, Amazon, Dictionary.com, the Internet Movie Database, and Daypop. Instead of having to navigate to the site and type your query into their search engine, you can do it quickly from any IE browser.

You can download the installer here. (70kb)
All questions should be directed to me at this address.
I've installed Nutshell but I can't find it on the toolbar.
You have to go to your toolbar and turn it on. Right-click on your tool area and choose "Nutshell" from the menu pop-up.

I can't resize the Nutshell toolbar.
Be sure you have de-selected "Lock the toolbars" by right-clicking on the toolbar area.
I ran the installer and I still can't find the toolbar in the list.
Go to your Tools->Options menu and click the Advanced tab. Make sure "Enable 3rd Party Browser Extensions."
I ran the installer and I still can't find the toolbar in the list.
What you need to do is go to the command line and change your directory to where
it was installed. Type regsvr32 nutshell.dll and you should get a success message box. If this still doesn't work
plase send me an email.
How about a version for the Macintosh?
Believe me, I'd love to write one for the Mac, but as far as I know there isn't any documentation for developing toolbars
on the Macintosh. If anyone knows different, please mail me and I'll get on it. I own a Mac now.
Nutshell is cool, how much does it cost?
Bah. Nutshell, like everything else I write, is free. When you do searches using the Amazon item in the toolbar,
Nutshell sends along an Amazon Associate ID. That Associate ID belongs to Nutshell. You pay nothing extra for
sending that ID, and Nutshell receives a small percentage of whatever you buy on
that visit. You can read more about Amazon Associates here.
I have a suggestion for Nutshell
I love hearing suggestions. Currently for the next version I'm planning on making the search list editable, and making the edit
box work like the Location bar in your browser (most recent searches, auto-complete). Send all suggestions
here.
How come it doesn't install like the Google toolbar? You don't need to download an installer for that one.
I don't know how to package a .dll like that. If you know how it's done, please mail me, I'd rather install it like
that than use an installer.
Can you please tell me when the new version of Nutshell is released.
Sure, just fill this out and I'll send an email out when I make significant changes to Nutshell.
